Matt Liebman is a Professor of Agronomy and the Henry A. Wallace Endowed Chair for Sustainable Agriculture at Iowa State University. He received a B.A. from Harvard University in 1978 and a Ph.D. from the University of California-Berkeley in 1986. He became a fellow of the American Society of Agronomy in 2009. His research, teaching, and outreach activities focus on ways to use ecological processes to create farming systems that are productive, profitable, resilient, and environmentally sound. Specific interests include diversified cropping systems, weed ecology and management, and the use of native perennial species for soil and water conservation and biofuel production.
